The Edict of Milan (313-2013): A Basis for Freedom of Religion and Belief?

The second conference of the three-year cycle, called the Edict of Milan (313-2013): The Basis of Freedom of Religion and Belief?, was held in Novi Sad, on May 2-5, 2012. This conference gathered eminent experts, theorists, representatives of Churches and religious communities, as well as international religious organizations. This gathering, which received the support of His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr. Irinej, questioned legal, theological and political aspects of the Edict of Milan, and current challenges for freedom of religion or belief.

The conference is co-organized by the Committee of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Charge of the Preparation of the Celebration of the 1700 years of the Edict of Milan and the Association of Non-Governmental Organizations in Southeast Europe – CIVIS, the Austrian PRO ORIENTE Foundation and the Swiss Peace and Crises Management Foundation. A special guest of this conference was the Conference of European Churches (CEC-KEK), which we cooperate with.
