This project is intended for seventh and eighth graders from Vojvodina, from the cities of Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Ruma, Irig, Sombor and Sremska Mitrovica. During one-day seminars held in March and April 2012, at the education center of Elektrovojvodina – Norcev on Fruska Gora, students, with the help of licensed educators from the Council of Europe, participated in creative workshops and quizzes and went through various examples of human rights, prejudice and stereotypes in order to learn how to deal with different situations in the future. The project was implemented with the financial support of the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Republic of Serbia in partnership with the Directorate of Education of the Council of Europe and the company Elektrovojvodina Ltd. The project was supported by the Provincial Department of Education, Administration and National Union of Vojvodina.

The lexicon is a result of many years of research conducted at the Institute for Economic Diplomacy. It is a product of a successfully implemented innovative project that was co-financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia and supported with a donation made by the Peace and Crises Management Foundation.

When the Iron Curtain felled an American writer named Fukuyama wrote a book, with the title: ‘The End of History and the Last Man’. He was convinced that, with the victory of democracy over the totalitarian communist countries of Eastern Europe, nothing would follow. He was clearly deluded. As long as mankind survives they will make historic changes, and the historians of the future will speak of continued change. And they will probably say that mankind doesn’t seem to have learned much by the history.

1.10.2012. Peace & Crises Management

This project is focused on the recently published document of the Council of Europe “Living Together, Combining Diversity and Freedom in 21st Century”, a Report of the Group of Eminent Persons of the Council of Europe. CIVIS will organize promotions of this report on the Universities in Serbia in order to raise awareness of major risks and threats in the 21st century. The project is supported by the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Belgrade.

29.7.2011. Peace & Crises Management

Representatives of the Foundation participated in the 4th World Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) which was held in Doha, Qatar from December 11-13th, 2011. At the UNAOC Forum, over 2500 political and corporate leaders, civil society activists, youth groups, faith communities, research centers, foundations, journalists, Ministers, and Heads of States came together to agree on joint actions to improve relations across cultures, combat prejudice and build lasting peace. Hosted by the ruling Emir of the State of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Forum counted the High Level Group member from Qatar H. H. Sheikha Mozah, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and the High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations President Jorge Sampaio. The UNAOC’s Forum in Doha was a milestone in the UNAOC’s existence. In Qatar, the UNAOC, the host government, and numerous partners made headway for global intercultural dialogue to emerge as a key driver for development, security and peace.

The workshop THE ACCESSION OF THE WESTERN BALKANS TO THE EU – PROCESS EVALUATION was organized in Dijon (France) by the Bourgogne – Balkans Express Association, in partnership with Sciences Po Paris and the European Commission. The Executive Director of the Foundation presented a project on Economic actors and the process of adhesion – Can CEFTA be effective without a significant national reform? on behalf of our Association CIVIS. The project’s website soon received the official recognition Diskobolos – a special prize in the field of design, from JISA Brussels, in 2010.

29.7.2010. Peace & Crises Management

On the occasion of its first annual Assembly, the association CIVIS organized the regional conference “Status of civil society in the countries of the SEE region”. This provided an opportunity to discuss the position of civil society in the region and draw some conclusions and recommendations. Speakers were: Mr. Zoran Pusić, President of Civic Committee for Human Rights (Croatia) and president of the CIVIS association, and Mr. Miljenko Dereta, Executive Director of Civic Initiatives (Serbia) and member of Executive board of CIVIS association. Special guests were Mr. Kiro Gligorov, founder and President of the Kiro Gligorov Foundation (Macedonia) and Mr. Boris Vukobrat, founder and President of the Peace and Crises Management Foundation.

Mr. Boris Vukobrat, President and Founder of the Swiss Peace and Crises Management Foundation and Honorary President of the Association of Non-Governmental Organisations of Southeast Europe – CIVIS, received the order of Saint Emperor Constantine within the Celebration of 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan

5.11.2013. Inter-Religious Dialogue

The second conference of the three-year cycle, called the Edict of Milan (313-2013): The Basis of Freedom of Religion and Belief?, was held in Novi Sad, on May 2-5, 2012. This conference gathered eminent experts, theorists, representatives of Churches and religious communities, as well as international religious organizations. This gathering, which received the support of His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr. Irinej, questioned legal, theological and political aspects of the Edict of Milan, and current challenges for freedom of religion or belief.

21.7.2012. Inter-Religious Dialogue

On the occasion of the European Year of intercultural dialogue, the CIVIS Association organized in the premises of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg an international conference entitled “The contribution of churches and religious communities to the sustainable peace-building in Southeast Europe”.

The project focuses on the realization of a TV series entitled „Inter-religious dialogue and peace in the Balkans in the period 1990-2009“, aiming to improve relations in the region of Southeast Europe. The project was implemented under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe with the grant of the Swiss Foundation for Peace and Crises Management.
